The Threat is Real

We like to think that as long as we don’t visit websites that we don’t trust or that are flagged by the antivirus, we won’t get our computer infected. If we avoid downloading and share documents only with those people we trust, we are even more confident that our PC will never become a victim. The truth is very different and sometimes the threat is in our very inbox, as we are spammed with phishing emails.

define phishingHackers have evolved and nowadays, we need to define phishing as a very well elaborated scheme that is aimed at both regular users and companies, with the goal of acquiring private information. All these data will be used against the owner as the hackers steal money from them, compromise their security or disclose more sensitive data to third parties.

The latter would pay big money to get in possession of such information, and the damage inflicted on the victim can be considerable. Important as it is to define phishing, this shouldn’t be the only thing that we do and the acquisition of professional software is vital. Some phishing emails are so well designed that even if you have a keen eye for details you could be tricked into submitting sensitive data.
