The economy has seen its share of up and downs, and lately it is on the down phase. However, just like history has repeatedly proven, it will surely pick itself up in the future, and it will flourish once again.
So, you should take advantage of this down economy by investing in the best asset you have: yourself. Arm yourself with new skills, better health, and generally improve your overall persona so that you can be a valuable asset for companies, present or future.
There are a lot of things you can do now that the economy is not so a-buzzing.
Educate yourself, learn new skills, attend workshops and seminars that will complement your portfolio. Computers are a must for any workplace so why not enroll in short courses about computers? This will give you an edge over other competitors that are not as computer savvy as you are.
How about learning a new language? Most of the big companies are multinational, and they will surely welcome an employee who they can send to China or Spain, or who can help them with some correspondence.
Get fit, or if you already are, get fitter. Looking good has become a must for many employers, as it makes for a better package, and a fit employee is less prone to sickness. Therefore, less likely to take sick leaves.
These are just some of the things you can do to take advantage of a not-so-frenetic economy. Even if nothing comes out of it in terms of employment, you still have improved yourself, and that cannot be taken away from you!
