Don’t Make Your Life Miserable in the Office

unhappy placeThe surest way to make your life miserable is to make the workplace an unhappy place. Imagine having to spend half of your waking hours in a place where there is friction, where you can’t chat freely, and most of the time have to stare in your computer because no one really wants to talk to you?

Now that’s a pretty sad thought. Try to be conscious of your actions so that you don’t get yourself into a trap where there is no way out. Here are some things you should watch out:

Forwarding spam mails – perhaps you just don’t want to break the chain in fear of being unlucky, but you’ll surely earn the ire of your colleagues when you do this, particularly when the mails are of a considerable size.

Complaining incessantly – okay, so you have some things you’d like to see improve, but come on, do you really have to spend at least thirty minutes of the lunch break to complain about everybody but you? No one likes that much negative energy so beware.

Too loud – whether it’s a phone call or the music on your laptop or ipod, remember that your colleagues may not particularly want to listen to whatever is your fancy, so please, take note.

Too many coffee breaks – sure, they’d understand that you want to have a little break every now and again but make sure that you are available when it counts. A colleague who is always missing is someone who’s risking his job.

These may be petty, simple actions, but it can define the difference between heaven and hell in the workplace.
