Diplomas Do Not Necessarily Guarantee Success

Today’s world is certainly more competitive. Nowadays, it’s not enough that you have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in, say, accounting to be employed in the accounting department of a certain organization. They will also require, or at least prefer, those with a license, a master’s degree, perhaps even a doctorate’s degree! This is because there are fewer jobs than there are applicants and so employers are really taking their pick out of the available talent.

diplomaIf you think about it, and you wish to follow the guidelines in being competitive, you’ll find yourself spending a lot of money even before you get hired for an entry level job. While it is true that diplomas, certifications and PhDs will open doors for you, it will not necessarily ensure your stay. Besides, there are a lot of people who never even completed formal education but still made it big in the world. Think Bill Gates and you will truly be inspired.

At the end of the day it is a combination of qualifications, hard work and some luck. If you cannot compete in the corporate world, then perhaps you should seek out other opportunities that do not require as much documentation. A lot of online jobs only require that you know how to perform specific tasks like writing, autocad drawing, transcription, and other skills. You can even stay at home while you earn. These kinds of jobs do not even ask for a single diploma, and you will be wise to build your own portfolio on it.
