My husband and I are both working, and sometimes we even have to extend some hours. Most of the time, we are both tired of cooking up a good dinner, and we always end up dining out. We figure that it is just right to reward ourselves after a long day’s work, and there is nothing to lift our spirits like a cozy dinner at a nice restaurant.
When we get home we can just relax and not worry about dirty dishes, and our drive home is not filled with talk of what we should cook for dinner. Instead, it’s filled with pleasant stories, sometimes of things and people we see at the restaurant. We like to try new restaurants, but at the same time we have a favorite one in the corner. When we are too tired to even think of where to eat, by default, we’d be at our favorite corner restaurant.
However, when I looked at all the receipts I accumulated over time, and checked how much we have spent, I was totally flabbergasted! It is a significantly huge chunk of our monthly income! I mean, if we stopped eating out for three months, we can probably afford that LED TV, we’ve been eyeing for some time now. In a year, we can have our home remodeled!
But though this is a very inspiring thought it will mean that we should totally cut back on our food expenses, it means having to commit to cooking dinner every night, and missing out on what has become for us a special bonding moment. Perhaps we should not do so drastically, and take it one day at a time.
